About Bucksviews.com a website about Bucks County, Pennsylvania

Quick Navigation:

Bucks County is in Southeastern Pennsylvania, just north of Philadelphia. The south east end is more industrial. The northwest end is much more rural.  Near the southeast end is the world famous development of Levittown.

Bucks County is rich in natural beauty and history. If you travel along the Delaware River, you can see the remains of the Delaware Canal and quaint towns such as New Hope.

In spite of development, there are still numerous picturesque farmhouses, barns and other buildings.  We are lucky to have towns such as Doylestown, Newtown, Yardley and New Hope with their wonderful old buildings. There are numerous vineyards and some great dining establishments.

The Future:

We are constantly adding new material.  Check back frequently for more views of Bucks County.

The initial focus will be geared more toward the lower end of Bucks County. We didn’t forget the folks up north. We’ll be working on those areas real soon.

The Photographs

The majority of the pictures were shot with a simple Kodak DC 215 Digital camera. Some other pictures were scanned 35mm shots.  If you see a picture that you’d like to purchase, let us know. The pictures are usually take at medium quality/resolution. The resulting file sizes are too large for the web so we usually run them through an editor to reduce the file size.  In most cases, we can provide the higher quality original.

Most of the Photos are edited using Serif’s Photoshop 8. In some cases we apply special effects filters such as charcoal drawings, Pen and ink, Watercolor or Oil Painting.

If you want to print these pictures for a school project you may do so as long as

Your Privacy

We want to respect your privacy.  Some of the beauty of Bucks County comes from the various homes, barns and other structures. For the most part, pictures of buildings and structures shot from public property are allowable.  However, if you are the owner of any property or structure pictured and you object to it’s use, contact us. We will, at your option:

  • Remove the picture from our site as soon as possible
  • Posterize, convert it to a drawing or otherwise obscure the photograph.
  • Substitute one of your photos if you wish.

We make every effort to avoid identifying information such as an address in  the pictures.

The Flip Side: In some cases, the property owners may want to have the picture identified. We’d be happy to add captions such as ‘The residence of ….”, “The Offices of…”, “The Rest Easy B&B” or whatever. (There is no charge even for commercial establishments).

In light of the post 9/11 world, we are making every effort to avoid pictures of any infrastructure or sensitive areas. If you are a local or county official and you want something removed, just contact us.

You will not see the outsides of any of the big chain places such as the place that charges $8 for a cup of coffee or one of the big box stores. Evidently big-company trademark owners are a little testy about getting any free advertising.
