The Frankenfield Covered Bridge carries Cafferty Road across the Tinicum Creek. There are few houses in the area so you should be able to find a spot on the side of the road to park. The Bridge is 130 feet long and was built in 1872.

If you proceed northwest on Cafferty Road from the bridge, you will come to the Van Sant Airport www.vansantairport.com which is a small grass field airport. They offer rides in biplanes and sailplanes.

Getting there:  

  • From 611, you can take Hollow Hill Road east toward the Van Sant Airport. Hollow Hill Road will end at Cafferty Road near the bridge.

  • From River Road (Route 32) – Look for Smithtown Road, just south of Treasure Island. Take Smithtown road west. After about 200 feet, you will come to a fork. Stay to the right on Twin Lear Road. About 1/4 mile later, Twin Lear Road becomes Cafferty Road Proceed northwest on Cafferty Road until you come to the Bridge.
