Bucksview Blog – Bucks County Pa: FW: BV – live from the renniasance faire

Once again knights and ladies are at the rennaisance faire in Wrightstown on Sunday, Sept 16, 2007.

There are lots of things to do and see for everyone. Pictured above is a trebuchet, a medival seige engine at about 1/4 scale or so. (Actual trebuchets apparently stood about 40′ tall). They were throwing cantalopes and other assorted fruits and veggies about 300 yards with it.

One of the highlights was a well done human chess match with some unexpected twists…. ie. knights boxing and swordfights … samauri style.

The afternoon jousting is always an attention getter. The event begins with demonstrations of training such as catching rings on lances and ends with two mounted knights shattering lances on each other’s shields.

There were a number of vendors and prices were very reasonable for goods and food. You could find everything from arts and crafts to broadswords.

If you missed this year’s event try to put it on your calendar for 2008. It is definitely worth the cost of admission. It’s educational as well as entertaining.
