The boulders in this field have a unique ability to generate tones when struck with a hammer or similar object. They are a product of the Pleistocene Epoch ice ages which occured from 10,000 years to 1.8 million years ago. The ground in this area of Bucks County was permanently frozen as Permafrost which fractured the bedrock. In other words, it was pretty dang cold. The warming trend has been going on for a lot longer than there were SUVs in Bucks County.

The park is a neat place to take the family if you want to have some outdoor fun while learning a bit about geology.
