Bucksview Blog – Bucks County Pa: The Waterwheel in Doylsetown

We recently stopped in at the Waterwheel in Doylestown. It’s located near the Airport. The building is charming. As the name implies, it is an old mill converted to a restaurant. The upstairs has a lot of civil war and revolutionary war prints. One that struck me was Joshua Chamberlain at Little Round top.We sat and checked out the menu in the main dining room. We were looking for something lighter so we headed down to the bar in the basement. That room is a little less cozy or a little more institutional. Neither of us were overwhelmed by the food. It is pretty much typical bar food on the downstairs menu. I should note that we have some good friends who rave about the food there so it might have just been an off night or it might have been us. It could also be that they eat upstairs in the main dining room and not downstairs. There were three Televisions with some annoying post election coverage (That isn’t the restaurant’s fault I know). I was electioned out so I just shifted to the other side of the table.I had a chicken parmesian with spagetti that was OK. Kathy had a crab appetizer. For desert I tried the chocolate mouse which was great. The service was great considering one person was working the bar and the tables (it was the day after election)

Summary – If you are looking for a nice atmosphere and a decent meal, I’d try the main dining room.
