There are some remarkable civil war canons in a small park in Lambertville.
If you are in New Hope, you can cross the bridge and walk about six blocks. The park is at the intersection of York and George streets on the southeast corner.
The canon can be found at the Mary E. Sheridan Park which is at the intersection of York and George Streets. In addition to the Canon the park has monuments and a gazebo that serves as a bandstand.

There is an obelisk commemorating local soldiers who fell during the Civil War. It was moved to it’s current location from the Mount Hope Cemetery.

Mortar balls stacked in a pyramid next to the canon. The canon was originally an 11 inch canon that was converted to an 8″ canon. I suppose that they inserted a sleeve into the original bore.
The balls are 15″ mortar shells, not shells for the canon.

There is a similar Civil War canon across the river in the center of New Hope.
SUMMARY – There is a lot of interesting history packed into a small park.
