We stopped in for lunch on Labor Day weekend. We were a bit late (close to 3:30) and seating was not available in the dining room since they were changing over for dinner. No problem , we were able to sit at the smoke free bar.

Theodore Roosevelt has always been one of my favorite Presidents. The restaurant is filled with newspaper articles and items related to Theodore that one would recognize as relating to his life such as boxing gloves and hunting trophies.

We shared the spring mix salad. I ordered the chicken sandwich which was a good portion of grilled chicken with cheese and bacon. The fries were crispy and well flavored.  I also ordered a cappuccino which is served in a tall clear glass.

For dessert I ordered the chocolate mousse cake. That was delicious. Our son wanted his with caramel topping and they were happy to oblige.

The restaurant itself is located in an alleyway off State Street. You won’t see it from State Street unless you look carefully. You can come in from East Oakland Ave and find a small metered parking lot there.

There are a lot of shops in the immediate area along with the Mercer Museum. In addition, the restaurant also operates Blue 52 which is a bar across the alleyway.

Roosevelt’s blue star is a very comfortable and casual find dining experience with a hot spot at the copper and wood trimmed bar. The entire bar and restaurant is non-smoking.

There is a patio outside with tables for you to take your drinks outside and smoke.  Inside is much Theodore Roosevelt’s memorabilia with many pictures of him. He was great hunter. On the walls there is a stuffed water buffalo, cape buffalo, and a hog.

There is two dining rooms. I had the crab cake sandwich with fries and slaw and spring mix salad which was all very fresh tasting and good. For desert I had tiramisu. The menu changes frequently with half portions available on Friday. Grab a date for Friday and go!
