If you are looking for something to do with the family in Bucks County, here are some ideas. They aren’t arranged in any particular order. - Rent a boat at one of the parks. For example, at Lake Nockamixon, you can rent small sailboats, motorboats and pontoon boats. A couple of hours cruising the lake in a pontoon boat with the kids can be a great way to spend the afternoon. Plan ahead for lunch or dinner nearby when you are done.
- Check out the wineries. Bucks County has some excellent vineyards. Most of them offer wine tasting and tours. (however, keep it legal)
- Spend a day in New Hope. It’s a great, eclectic, interesting town. There are hundreds of boutique shops offering everything from books and antiques to adult toys. While you are there find a place for lunch. There town has dozens of small restaurants and cafes.
- Spend a day in Doylestown. There aren’t quite as many shops but you can find bookstores and antique shops. Doylestown has some great restaurants and cafes.
- Visit one of the historical sites. Bucks County has a rich heritage. Some of the sites and museums include: The Mercer Museum, Fonthill, The Grundy Mansion and Washington Crossing Historic Park
- Visit some of the covered bridges – For this, you need a map, a plan, a camera and decent weather. The county has some beautiful covered bridges. Many of these are on back roads so you want to know their locations before you set out.
- Grab the kids and head out for Sunday Brunch. The Black Bass Inn is just one of the places where you can get a great brunch and a beautiful drive in the country.
- Take a ride on River Road. You can get on River Road anywhere between Washington Crossing and Reigelsville. The road runs along the Delaware River and Delaware Canal. There are restaurants, antique shops and recreational areas along it’s length. The main attraction is the scenic, rural beauty.
