| This is a small, cozy pizza café in the center of Doylestown. Across the street is Paganini’s restaurant for more formal dining and adjacent is Paganini’s wine bar. The Café is ideal for light fare or lunches or just a dessert and cappuccino. I ordered the chicken wrap for $5.95. This is grilled chunks of chicken wrapped in pita bread with cucumber salad. It also came with a nice lettuce and carrot salad. In addition, I ordered a café mocha ($2.50). For dessert, I selected the chocolate fondant ($4.25). The excellent food was complimented by excellent service. We also had a 12″ Pizza ($6.95). They have a selection of beer and half bottles and glasses of Italian wines for those who are so inclined. The atmosphere is definitely café and not ‘pizza joint’. The Café has about 10 small (2 person) tables inside and a few al fresco seats. They have newspapers and some magazines by the door and chess and Chinese checkers by the espresso bar. The background music was mostly jazz when we were there. Parking in Doylestown’s business section is metered except, I believe, on Sunday. They accept Visa and MasterCard although you should ask before ordering as they seem to be in a transition with credit cards. | The atmosphere is very pleasant and relaxing with low lighting and many photographs on the wall including a Kadinsky print. It is very kid friendly with chess and chinese checkers to play. If you like wine there is a beautiful wine bar through connecting doors with light fare – we’ll review that another time. The 12” pizza was delicious with a bread like crisp crust and the slight hint of fresh basil. The chicken wrap was served with cucumber salad with had nice flavorings and the salad had shredded carrots and green leaf lettuce – delicious and healthy To drink we had Orangina which is a sparkling citrus beverage of orange and tangerine. Classic jazz played in the background. The desserts are as excellent as those that you would find in a fine restaurant. We had Tiramisu and chocolate fondant which had several layers with chocolate buttercream icing. |
